Holger Schmidt vom Netzökonom-Blog der FAZ hat sich heute die Comscore-Zahlen zur Mediennutzung der letzten 12 Monate angeschaut. Das Facebook und Co. im letzten Jahr deutlich dazu gewinnen konnten, ist wenig überraschend. Etwas überraschend ist aber der Stellenwert, den Nachrichtenseiten in Deutschland einnehmen, verglichen mit dem Wachstum der Nachrichtennutzung im restlichen Europa, fällt Deutschland sehr weit zurück:
Eine Besonderheit in Deutschland betrifft die Nachrichten- und Informationsseiten, die in Deutschland nur auf Rang 10 der meistbenutzten Kategorien rangieren. Die Zahl der dort verbrachten Minuten ist in den vergangenen 12 Monaten nur um 1 Prozent auf 1,5 Milliarden Minuten gestiegen, während diese Kategorie in Europa 38 Prozent auf 17,4 Milliarden Minuten zugelegt hat.

In diesem Zusammenhang ist mir eine Analyse von Marcel Weiß von neunetz.com eingefallen, der vor einigen Monaten beklagt hatte, dass deutscher Verlagsjournalismus online nicht existiert:
Die deutschen Portale der Presseverlage sind bisweilen komplett austauschbar, weil sie sich zu einem Großteil aus Agenturinhalten speisen und die eigenen Inhalte lediglich auf Papier veröffentlichen (oder zu horrenden Artikelpreisen). Stern.de ist ein besonders krasses Beispiel, wie Stefan Niggemeier aufzeigte.
Austauschbarkeit in den Inhalten, keine eigenständige Positionierung (von Bildergalerien, die Klicks aber keinen Mehrwert schaffen sollen, abgesehen), und eine Vermarktung, die in ihrer Papiersimulierung genau so schlecht ist wie der Rest des Angebots.
Die StartUp-Szene lässt in Deutschland in dieser Hinsicht leider auch zu wünschen übrig: Es liegt in einigen Bereichen ein unbestelltes Feld bereit und außer kleineren Versuchen, wagt sich niemand ran. Selbst die “Großen” kommen nur langsam in die Pötte: Mit der NZZ hat sich unserer Kenntnis nach die erste deutschsprachige Zeitung dazu entschieden, nicht mehr dem Konzept Printjournalismus mit Onlineableger zu folgen, sondern sich auf das wirkliche Kerngeschäft zu Konzentrieren – Journalismus. Ob Print, Online, Mobile, Paywall oder wie auch immer dieser am Ende verteilt wird, ist egal.
