Nachdem vor einigen Wochen ein kurzer Bericht auf evangelisch.de zu Groupon-Klonen in Verlagen erschienen ist, dreht sich einer der drei Leitartikel in der gedruckten Ausgabe von epd-Medien diese Woche ebenfalls um Groupon & Co. Unter dem Titel “Hoffen auf die Herden | Deutsche Medien versuchen sich im Rabattgeschäft / Von Martin Meuthen” ist eine sehr schöne Übersicht über die deutschen Verlagsaktivitäten entstanden.
Leider gibt es den kompletten Artikel nur gegen Bezahlung. Meinen Part habe ich trotzdem kopiert, weil er so schön zum Thema rheinmainDEAL und den Groupon-Klonen aus der Dose passt:
Der Fachjournalist Steffen Greschner hält diesen risikolosen Einstieg ins Couponing für eine halbherzige Lösung. „Das fertige Paket von Banghaus ist eine sehr clevere Geschäftsidee – für Banghaus“, sagt Greschner, der auch Berater für E-Commerce ist. Wegen der vorgefertigten Portale würden sich die Zeitungshäuser jedoch selbst nicht richtig mit dem Konzept befassen. Genau das sollten sie seiner Ansicht nach jedoch tun. „Die brauchen eigene Start-ups und IT-Abteilungen, wenn sie weiterhin ein Medienvorreiter sein wollen.“
Beste Voraussetzungen
Der Anzeigenmarkt werde für die Verlage vielleicht noch fünf bis zehn Jahre funktionieren, glaubt Greschner.Genau wie einst die Kleinanzeigen für Autos und Immobilien werde dann auch der Anzeigenmarkt ins Netzabwandern. „Alles, was sich im Bereich Gastronomie und Wellness bewegt, da werden sehr viele Händler dann nicht mehr zu den Zeitungen gehen.“
Von ihrer Struktur her seien Verlage sehr wohl in der Lage, lokal gegen Groupon anzutreten. „Nur müssen sie das Thema ernst nehmen“, kritisiert Greschner. Die Voraussetzungen für erfolgreiches Couponing könnten für die Zeitungshäuser seiner Ansicht nach kaum besser sein. „Wer hat in jeder Stadt die besten Kontakte zu Händlern? Seit hundert Jahren die Zeitung.“ All das müsse Groupon mit sehr viel Geld und unter hohen Verlusten erst aufbauen.
